Celtic’s Adam Idah and Liam Scales have been included in John O’Shea’s Ireland squad for their forthcoming friendlies against Belgium and Switzerland. The Irish did not qualify for Euro 2024 after a disastrous spell under Stephen Kenny but will look to give a good account of themselves as the FAI ponder their next managerial appointment.

Scales has emerged as a first pick at centre back under Brendan Rodgers this season after taking the opportunity afforded to the defender owing to absences at the back. Meanwhile, Idah has impressed after arriving on loan from Norwich City. In eight appearances, Idah has scored 5 goals and assisted on one occasion. Celtic will likely look to negotiate a deal to bring the Irishman to Celtic on a permanent basis.

Reported Celtic goalkeeping target Caoimhin Kelleher has been included in the squad and will likely be the No.1 after impressive performances for Liverpool. Kelleher has been deputising for Allison Becker as the Brazilian stopper has been forced out with injury.

Celtic have been targeting a new No.1 with the news that Joe Hart will be retiring at the end of the season. The 75-cap England Internationalist is hanging up his gloves meaning that Brendan Rodgers requires a new first choice keeper with Kelleher having been heavily linked.
