Carolina Panthers hire former Pro Bowler as new GM

The Carolina Panthers have hired a new general manager.

The Panthers announced on Monday that they have hired Dan Morgan as their new president of football operations and general manager.

Morgan played linebacker for the Panthers from 2001-07 and made the Pro Bowl in 2004. The former No. 11 overall pick out of Miami retired after just seven seasons due to multiple injuries.

After retiring as a player, Morgan began his work in front offices as an intern with the Seahawks in 2010. He moved his way up to director of pro personnel with Seattle and then moved to the Bills organization in 2018. The 45-year-old was hired by Carolina as an assistant general manager in 2021.

Morgan will handle the personnel side for the Panthers. Carolina will hire someone else to handle the salary cap and business part of the job.
