Red Sox Nation To Get First Look At Intriguing Top Prospect In First Grapefruit League Start

The 19-year-old outfield prospect has seen his stock considerably rise this past offseason. Bleis currently is Boston's No. 4 prospect behind just shortstop Marcelo Mayer, first baseman Triston Casas, and utility man Ceddanne Rafaela. 

Bleis began his professional career with the Red Sox's Dominican Summer League team in 2021 and was promoted to the Florida Complex League in 2022. The youngster shined last season and slashed .301/.353/.543 to go along with five home runs, 14 doubles, 18 stolen bases, and 27 RBIs across 40 games at just 18 years old. 

The young Boston prospect has risen so much that he even has been tabbed as a top breakout candidate of 2023, according to Baseball America's Josh Norris. 

"Bleis has tools, youth, and production on his side, Norris said. "Now, he needs to shore up his approach and get a better handle on breaking balls to truly tap into his talents. How well he does that will largely determine his future, but the upside is there to be a superstar in the coming years." 

Although he certainly is a ways away from taking the field with the big league club, Monday's contest will be a good opportunity for Red Sox Nation to take a look at the future.
