Rondo's World
What a summer...workouts, camps, vacations, and TRADES have all made this one interesting summer. I'm back home in Louisville right now after being in Boston for the past few weeks working out. While in Boston I worked out with some of my new and old teammates...Gabriel Pruitt, Glenn Davis, Brandon Wallace, Jackie Manual, Kendrick Perkins, and Tony Allen. Tony (we call him TA) is recovering well...he actually played a few one on one games with us, so hopefully he will be 100% before the season starts. The workouts basically consisted of weight training, individuals, and team building. Off the court in Boston, I went to my first Red Sox game...that was fun..a Patriot's preseason game...the Scream Tour Concert...and of course, my favorite restaurant, Ruth's Chris. Over the summer I hosted three basketball camps for kids ages 6-16. They went better than I had expected for it to be my first year. Each camp was a week long. The first camp hosted 80 kids, and the other two hosted 300 kids. I had only planned to host 2 camps, but because the first two sold out, I added the third. I love kids, and it was really fun to interact with them everyday. I had some of my homies come to the camps and speak to the kids about their careers and experiences...some of the people that came were: Mike Bibby (Kings), Rudy Gay (Memphis), Josh Smith (Hawks), Patrick Sparks (UK), Larry O'Bannon (UofL), Edgar Sosa (UofL), etc. Next year, I plan to host more camps including some in Boston and Lexington, Ky. I got to take some nice vacations this summer...I went to Orlando, Miami, the Bahamas, and Jamaica. I got to do some good shopping in each place, so that was coo. TRADES...I lost a lot of my homies due to the trades this summer. Telfair (Bassy), Green (G$), Jefferson (AJ), Gomes (Gomez)...congrats man on the wedding, West (D West), and Ray (A Reezy) were some of my closest teammates. Last year, in every city we went to, we would always go to Ruth's Chris together...ima miss that tradition. Even though we're not on the same team any more, we all try to keep in contact and check up on each other. This year I look forward to playing with my new teammates...one goal we all share is: the Championship! I'm excited about the upcoming season and look forward to all the possibilities that it brings. This is my world...welcome to it...I'll holla!

Next time you talk to AJ, Gomes and company, remind them that coming back to Boston when they become free agents is a terrific idea! ;-)
Best of luck this season. Hope you have five rings on your finger when you career is over!
Will also be looking forward to seeing your first Strat-O-Matic card this autumn. I am sure your card has many "dazzlers" in the passing column of the game!

It is great to read your views and thoughts.
I am a huge fan from down under in Australia and can't wait for the season to start.
I will miss your homies this season, it was fun watching those guys develop as Boston Celtics'.
But, life goes on and now you and the team and the fans have a great opportunity to experience, hopefully, a deep play off run.
I think Paul will be unbelievable this year.
All the best and it is a great treat watching you play basketball. Keep believing in yourself and your game and that will ensure the Celtics are in great shape.
Cheers

I was wondering if you have been given any nicknames from your teammates or coaches. I like the nickname "Roadrunner" for you and everytime you score at home, the AV guys can play a "Meep Meep" sound like the roadrunner from the cartoon. Sounds a bit corny at first, but I really think it could catch on! What do you think of this idea?

Have you given any thought this off season to how much of a beast Perk is? When you do, when you sit and meditate upon the beastliness that is Our Sensei Perk, what is the image of the Beast that releases inside of you the emotion that is synonymous with beastliness? What in your Mind's Eye releases the Beast? This is just what we were thinking.

I just want to say that as a young point guard (high shcool) I try to model my game after yours. I love your style of play, and although there are a lot of point guards in the league more talented than you right now, you play POINT GUARD better than 99% of them. You and Derron Williams are the future of that position. Keep working at it, you have a chance to be a truly special player and win many championships (how many 21 point guards get to run championship contending teams??).
By the way, I tried so hard to get tickets to the Scream Fest Tour but I couldn't get any. I have a man crush on T.I.

In 1950, a PG named Cousy made me a fan of both the Celtics and the PG position. Fifty-seven years later, you are reinforcing my allegiance to the team (no mean feat because, at age 70, one's attention can drift). After the first exhibition game, I posted on a Celtics blog that your open court game reminded me of Cousy'sâ€"and it still does. But your defense is in a class of its own, although I know it must be tough to combine control with your

I guess my earlier message was interrupted, as I was talking about the difficulty of balancing defensive control with your ability to play "free safety" on defense. My question was, aside from working on the jumper, what do you consider to be your most important PG challenges (or areas for improvement) as you face added PG responsibility with a very different and rather unique team? Many thanks for sharing your insights with us. Today's players have a tendency to be more remote than players of the past (for understandable easons); and it's so refreshing to find an excepption. Best regards. SlipperySam
